Caterina Yeargan: I am in university right now :)I am 18 and I am in my first year (freshman) of universityI don't really want to write where I study, but it's the 6th best university in the world and I can't believe I got in (: & number 3 in the UKI am studying MedicineYes, I visited about 20 different! colleges all over England Scotland & it was a great way to find out what universities I wanted to apply to and see the one where I belonged - even though reputation is important it's also important to go where you're happy at. I wanted to see the hospitals I'd be studying at training at, campus, dorms, university events, freshers' week and clubs. Also, you can write on your application that you went to visit them, so you know you want to go there5 in England you can only apply to 5 different unis and I got in all 5I decided in about May where I wanted to go, but I knew straight away reallyI live in London and I am in campus right now...Show more

Lue Podewils: I! 'm 16 and in the 11th grade. I'll be applying next year. I rea! lly want to get into UC Santa Barbara, but since there is so much competition to get into that school I'll probably end up going to Cal State Long Beach. I'm looking at UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and Long Beach. All those schools are pretty close to home. I find psychology interesting, but I really want to do journalism even if it is not the most promising career choice. I've been to both Long Beach and UCI, I fell in love with UCI :)...Show more

I'm dually enrolled in it and my high school. Next year I'll be here for a year and then transfer to a senior University. I have a full ride for two years (after I graduate), but only want to be here one.What are you studying/what are you going to study?I'm an English major minoring in! History.Did you do college visits?I've visited the senior university I'm transferring to because my sister goes there.How many schools did you apply to?So far just the one I'm at, because I'm not giving up two free years!When did you officially decide where you were going?When I got the scholarship. I'll live on campus (1 hour away when they fix the bridge that's out, 2 right now) but keep my mom's house as my permanent address....Show more

I still want to take a few more classes before I commit.Did you do college visits?Yes. I visited the one I'm currently going to and I went to another one on a school trip. They're really helpful! Just make sure you really pay attention during them. They all seem fantastic at the time of the tour/visit so make sure to dig a bit deeper into things. Also, colleges visited my high school ALL the time. That really helped me a lot. I wouldn't have known where to start otherwise. I went to basically every meeting and I learned a lot about what I did and didn't want in a school. But back to the visits- don't go to a ton. Try to narrow down your options and use the visit as something that would kind of... put the final say on your decision if that makes sense.How many schools did you apply to?Just one! I knew where I wanted to go and application fees add up. Fortunately, my school waived my fees but that doesn't always happen. If you pl! an on applying to multiple places, make sure to check their fees.When did you officially decide where you were going?Uhm, I knew at the end of my junior year. I talked about my options with people over the summer but I already knew in my mind where I would be applying. I applied as an early admit and found out in less than two weeks :)Did you move/will you move far away from home?Nope! I commute. I know at some point, I will be doing a semester in another city, though. I'll be moving for that but it's not more than a couple of hours away. One of the colleges I'd considered was... 12 hours away from home. It was tempting but I knew I didn't want to be in a totally different environment straight out of high school. I love the community my school is in and it's just a bonus that I grew up nearby. And it's better for me financially. Dorm prices are outrageous at certain schools....Show more
