Why do women keep reaching for higher education but only typically date a man who's equal more educated than her?
Jeannetta Gaffigan: Educational level is not necessarily an indicator of intellectual match. And while only anecdotal, I know plenty of women who are more educated than their male partners.
Leontine Kreitz: I don't think having a preference means they won't settle for less. This isn't an absolute. Can you really fault them for wanting to feel intellectually matched though? Some men and women prefer to date someone who is in the same physical condition. How is that any different? Does that mean they can't date someone else? No. Just that they prefer to date an equal (or in some cases be challenged to achieve even more.)
Jacinta Moitoso: They pursue the education necessary to advance in their careers just as men have typically done. The real question is why aren't men pushing themselves to get college degrees like they used to?
Mark Hovanes: Obviously you want to meet someone who is intellectually matched, but it's pretty hard to find someone who ha! s a PhD in the general population, and as such, obtaining one narrows down your intellectual equal substantially. Add in other factors of attraction, and it's hard to find someone who meets your standards
