Tobie Oshea: Preschool teachers teach socialization and basic concepts through play. There are different areas set up in the classroom for exploration: water/sand table, dramatic play, art, math, science. Throughout the day children are engaged in music and movement, gross motor, fine motor, sensory and many more activities. The foundation for reading is phonemic awareness and a preschool teacher teaches this through word play, rhymes, songs, books, fingerplays, flannel stories, etc. The foundation for math is number sense.
