When should I get my son a new car seat?
Hunter Beech: get a convertible car seat now. he should reamin rear facing for as long as possible. In most states teh law is AT LEAST 20 pounds AND one year old. However, it is best to rear face them for as long as possible. There are converitble car seat that got o 35-40 pounds
Rona Ising: i just asked this question lol the same applies to my son. they have bigger rear facing ones but i was wondering about the front facing car seats.
Rodrigo Pezley: then i guess its time for a new one....
Zora Mazzie: If he's too big for his infant seat. Then now would be a good time to invest in a good convertible car seat. He still should of course be kept rear facing for as long as he will stand it. It's safest for little ones.
Jinny Dronen: The AAP's recommendation is to rear face children until their 2nd birthday and 30 pounds at a minimum- more if the seat allows. It is 500% safer for a toddler to be rear facing in the event of an accident- which is why th! ey're in a car seat to begin with. http://aapnews.aappublications.org/cgi/câ¦You should be looking at purchasing a convertible seat- one that rear faces to at least 30 pounds, and then forward faces after that. I personally have a Graco My Ride 65 for my 16 month old Godson- I believe he's about 27 pounds. http://www.gracobaby.com/Catalog/Pages/pâ¦This seat rear faces to 40 pounds, and forward faces to 65 pounds.http://www.car-safety.org/rearface.html This link lists convertible car seatshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psmUWg7Qr
Elbert Donatelli: Our 1 yr old is about the same size, he is in a convertible Evenflo Triumph 65 and Sunshine Kids Radian 65's for him. We never used an infant seat, he has been in these since day one. Look for a seat that RF to around 40 lbs, and FF in a harness to 65 lbs. much safer way to travel. And yes, the baby's legs do 'go over the edge' when RF. The AAP recommends to keep baby RF to age 2 and 30 pounds. The 1 yr 'law' to FF is outda! ted. There is a greater risk of injury or death when FF before! age 2....Show more
