Bettye Arre: Scherenschnitte is a very traditional German craft/hobby, where intricate shapes are cut out of paper and then framed. I don't think the younger generation of Germans still actively produce Scherenschnitte, though. I'm not talking about simple "snowflake" cutting of paper, but detailed picture scenes. You can get a better idea looking at this link: http://www.hopalonggreetings.com/new_page_3.htmAnother thing Germans like to do is knit. Unlike the hobby I mentioned above, kniting is enjoyed by people of all ages. My mother used to knitt beautiful items - I never got into it that much.Other things I know my sister enjoys doing in Germany is decorating her windows with window paints. Quilting is another hobby some Germans are taking up, but fabric prices are much higher than in the US and the supply of quilting cotton is limited. Then dependin! g on which area of Germany you live in, wood carving and pottery are hobbies that are enjoyed.Hope this helps with what you are looking for.I'm German, but legally in the US for 11 years now....Show more
