Budget transportation in London for a few days?
Brice Greczkowski: Go with the Oyster I have been to London several times and it is the easiest way to deal with the multitude of travel options. I usually get a four day or seven day central London oyster which allows unlimited use of the underground and the bus system. Take a minute to see if your hotel is near an underground stop and where you can get to from that stop with out transfers. The public transportation in London is amazing we never had a problem getting where we needed to go. I think the oyster we got had a river transport offer which allowed us to cruise from the Tower of London to the parliament building where Big Ben is, but I may be mistaken that might have been part of the city pass we got to allow cheap admission to lots of key sites. Get a good current map before you go and get to know what you want to do while you are there so you can group things together like the London Eye with Westminster Abbey and Big Ben they are all very close together. I f y! ou are a good planner and love to walk it would probably be cheaper to just pay per use of transport and plan so you see all the sites with in walking distance each day just start and end your walking tour on a bus line or near an underground station that will take you back to your hotel. The Oyster gives you options and freedom and they were a good value for the money I think. If you have time take an after noon to just walk around Regents Park it was my favorite place in London every trip. Good luck have a nice Trip....Show more
Kenneth Thuesen: The above answer is good but do remember the Oyster Card is not valid on most of the national rail system, so if you are planning trips by train to some of the attractions near London such as Brighton and Windsor, you will need to purchase separate tickets for these journeys.
