is studying humanities in college hard?
Danica Timperman: it's not hard intellectually but there's a heavy load of hw & that stuff.if you really like humanities but find it hard when you're in college, think of other majors people take that are MUCH harder; that should make you feel better.i do engineering, in my opinion THE hardest major to take.best of luck!
Randa Hessell: International Studies will allow you to work in International Relations, Humanitarian Relief, Cross Cultural Trainer, Diplomat, Public Affairs Coordinator, Foreign Service Official. To be an International Lawyer, Professor of International Studies, Researcher, or College International Student Adviser you will need to have an advanced degree beyond your Bachelors Degree. As far as language goes, you need to take Spanish. For a second language I would suggest either Mandarin Chinese or German. A lot of business is done in China and Germany so either of those would be good languages to learn. As far as which is easier I can't tell you. I! took Spanish in high school and took German in college. I made a C+ in German but it was my freshman year and I didn't study or try at all so I could have made an A if I would have tried....Show more
Janita Tetlow: Yes it is - you have to do an enormous amount of reading and writing essays normally. Any arts degree requires this ability - if you don't like writing, find another path. Humanities covers such a large field... anthropology, sociology, history... Every degree has its challenges and workloads. Science often requires more time in school doing labs & tutorials, along with the normal studying etc. where arts frequently requires a lot more reading & writing outside class.PS - Anyone who says that 'the humanities' isn't intellectually challenging has obviously never had a good teacher in any of those disciplines. The dictionary definition of 'intellectual' is "appealing to or engaging the intellect: intellectual pursuits"... if history or anthropology doesn! 't stimulate the intellect, I don't know what does... How can ! these areas of study not stimulate thought? Just because something doens't involve a calculator or a bunsen burner doesn't mean it isn't valid or fascinating....Show more
