Hyman Coren: There are actually many fields that you would be able to look at within this field of mental health. Below are some examples of careers in this field, and by far are not all of them, but are some examples of them.Psychologist -- a professional who is trained to help people to deal with their emotions, and are also trained to give different personality tests, work related tests, setting up various plans for success, and can also be a source or referral onto other agencies that are able to assist you with your plans too. People in this field often need to have either a masters, or a doctorate in psychology.Psychiatrist -- this is a type of medical doctor. You would need to get your general medical degree first, and then branch off into the field of psychiatry. You are with this level able to do everything that I have listed in the field of psychology, and you're also able to prescribe medications that would also help with various conditions as well.Neurolog! ists -- again, like psychiatrists, this is a form of medicine. You would need to get your medical degree, and then specialize into the field of neurology.Psychometricians -- these are the individuals that are trained to administer the tests that psychologists and/or psychiatrists ask to be administered.Stroke/Chronic Conditions -- these are individuals who are able to work with people who have various neurological disorders ie. through rehabilitation.Those are a few examples....Show more
