Shaunta Paap: Be careful- I suggest that all the tenants get together an deal with the mortgage company- they make love to empty the building as then the rents can be raised. Suggest you go to you City Councilmans office as well

Lia Argall: first of all I do beleive that renting a home zoned R1 for single family to multiple tennats is immoral, this is what creates slums, i know it sounds extreme, but the zoning is there for a reason, zoning laws create a safe place to live and preserves the integrity of the area by regulating it's intended use. depending on the city you are in, zoning maps are often available for download on the city's website under public works/building dept/ planning and zoning. A two unit building is NOT an apartment complex.Does your area require a certificate of occupancy for rentals? Mine doesn't for two flats, but some do.
