Would you rather see 100 yrs into humanities future as a whole, or 10 yrs into YOUR own future?

answers1: Neither
answers2: I'd rather see 100 years into humanities' future than 10
years into my future. I wonder what the world will be like in 1,000
years.
answers3: 100 years into humanity as a whole. I always think we are
going to destroy ourselves too soon, sooner than 100 years, so I'd
love to see if we survive that long. Whereas my future I'd rather stay
blind to, more fun that way.
answers4: Neither one. If i am going lower back 10 years, I might
desire to do each and everything allover lower back. in simple terms
project is i could be 10 years older than I already am. If i am going
forward 10 years, then I omit each and everything that befell
throughout that factor.
answers5: 10 years into my own future. Face it, in 100 years
humanities screwed anyway, why waste my view?
answers6: 10 years into my own.. check some lottery numbers out.. you
know.. why worry about what were not going to be around for.. thats
for our children to fix.. kind of the same as were fixing out parents
mistakes now

Does humanities go in the social science category?

answers1: No, it doesn't. There is some cross over in terms of
history...as a discipline it can be listed in both areas, but
generally falls in humanities. On Yahoo!Answers humanities comes in
the Arts and humanities category listing, just hit "Browse Categories"
and you will see it. Humanities topics go more toward "fine arts'
like music, writing, visual arts, philosophy etc. You can see that by
clicking on the topics in "Browse Categories" in both areas, Arts &
Humanities and Social Science.

this is not any longer some secret hidden which means as though the
photograph denotes something diverse from the textual content cloth or
our often used history know-how. honestly what you spot is what it

Do you think manga is art?

answers1: Manga is NOT porn, dum dum....

I couldn't live without manga or anime, and I consider manga more than
art, BETTER than art, becuase a manga is what made Inuyasah, and I
have never been better since I started reading/watching Inuyasah ^_^
YES IT IS ART, AND NO IT IS NOT UGLY!! *sticks out tounge* only preps
hate anime... suckas..
answers2: Why wouldn't it be considered art? They're drawings and
stories. Both of which take creativity. If it's not art, than what is
it? Even acting is a form of art. Whoever called manga "porn" is an
absolute idiot.
answers3: Yes it's art. Bad art, but art nonetheless.
answers4: of course, there are so many different syles of
art..writing, cooking, poetry, painting, clothing design, and film are
all art...so why shouldn't manga be
answers5: of course it's art...

CherryBlossom
not all manga is porn...
you should really think before you type
answers6: Yeah i think its are. someone works really hard on those
characters just sitting and drawing. yeah manga is art.
answers7: I agree with you.. comic art is by far more detailed and
more diverse. But manga, though i do love it, has basically the same
type of art although it does vary a little from manga to manga.
another thing I like about comic art is that in almost every panel
there is a detailed drawing showing characters, landscapes, etc. while
manga sometimes has a character smack in the middle of a design
background or just plain white background. comic book art seems to
take longer and has more work in the process of making it
answers8: Well DU!! every thing that is created is art there is good
art and there is bad art, but its still art.
answers9: Yes.
answers10: In my opinion, manga is art just as much as literature is.
So many times, I've caught myself staring and marvelling at the way
certain panels are arranged across a page, and certain techniques used
by manga artists to make a certain impact or emotion, especially the
use of only eyes or parts of a face. I also think it's art in a sense
that many good mangas centre around a well-crafted story.

I think of manga as between reading/literature, and watching/movies.
Is film-making an art? Words create images in the readers' minds,
movies portray an interpretation directly, when I read manga, both
words and pictures help to form images and ideas in my mind as well as
being able to see it on paper.

Unless you're not talking about arts in its broader sense (drama,
visual art, literature), and only about art as in impressionist
paintings or drawings or something. Which I think is quite limiting,
because art expresses itself in so, so, many forms. Manga is a mix of
visual and verbal art.

To the person who said manga is like porn and is belittling, perhaps
you've just been reading the wrong ones and missing out on the ones
that really touch on human emotions... I mean, with pressure of
weekly/monthly releases, mangakas are often very pressure so the
quality of the manga is less, but there are ones out there that are
brilliant. There are honestly so many different types of manga, good
and bad. As you can probably tell, I'm an optimist so I like to look
at the good. That, and lately I found a manga whose characters really
relate to me personally, so I've been in very reflective and quiet
moods lately...

What is art?

answers1: It is a expression of ones self, or inner being. It is what
people see through their own eyes, there is no right or wrong in art,
because it is an individual idea, feeling, or vision. I express my
feelings through art. Anger, happiness, sadness, humility, fragility,
loneliness, or any other of the vast emotions we feel through out our
lives.
answers2: For me it is a field of human knowledge, and it means to me
that I can get into the adventure of exploring it.

Do you care about art?

answers1: not really at all, actually. probably largely because i seem
unable to understand the certain implications in art (how someone can
see anger in brushstrokes or the way a sculpture is formed, and see
peacefulness in a picture of a garden when it's not real is just
beyond me, sigh).
i can very much appreciate a well-put-together room because of how
well i like the color scheme or or something like that, though; but i
don't think that counts.
if music counts, though, i do appreciate that.
answers2: LOVE
answers3: I love art. I'm always amazed by how a single person could
come up with something so beautiful. I mean, I'm constantly envious of
their skills, but I'm also always in awe too, cause it's so
extraordinary for me.You never know what could come up next or rather
you usually get a whole different meaning out of a piece of art than
what it was said to mean and that goes for everyone else too. It's
very pleasing to my eyes and fairly mind boggling for me.
answers4: Yes, because you can tell how free a nation is by how much
freedom artists have. When you start getting repressive governments,
artists feel it first.

I enjoy the visual arts, but I can do fine with a few art shows or
plays in a given year. Books are my main course; I read and listen to
music every day.
answers5: I love art.
But I just wanted to say, some statistics show homosexual males to
more artistically inclined/interested as opposed to heterosexual
males.
...Just saying.
answers6: first, i don'tt understand why this answers is in this
category, but yes¡¡¡n i care about all thing which has to do with art
, specially performance and classic music
answers7: I love paintings and drawings also if you consider
literature to be art then literature too
kind of artistic myself :P
answers8: I used to. I was an artist,but then I realized I suck and
don't care for it much anymore. It's a long, sad tale.

How can I get top mark in Visual arts?

answers1: Your question is not telling us if you are talking about a
class in drawing and painting or a class that talks about Visual Art
History. So I will give you an answer to both. P&D: You need to
clearly understand what your instructor wants from you then you need
to find your own very personal way of executing this idea. Quality of
technique is very important and imaginative ideas. VAH: Most teachers
are interested if you can clearly, communicate your own ideas about
the art that you
are looking at. Write your papers in two drafts and most definitely
pay attention to spell check. After it is written, read it out loud to
your self because if it doesn't flow verbally, that will get you a
lower grade.
Good luck.
answers2: 1.think of what will you do-there are gazillions of subjects
to choose from (i leave that to your brain and eyes) 2. How will you
do it (i leave that to your your brain, eyes, and hand)
3. Render it properly (i leave that to your brain, eyes, hand and heart!)
answers3: your subjects must be out of the ordinary . dont paint
flowers . dont paint children . dont paint cute fluffy animals .

realy weird place ( inside a piano) ? watever your imagionation comes

how do you start in acting?

answers1: Take classes. See if it's for you. Your coach will let you
know what your strong/weak points are. You might decide a future
behind the camera or writing if you don't like acting.
Be careful the many "acting" schools out there. They are like karate
schools, only out for the money.
good luck, the industry needs it.
answers2: I would say go to acting school. Get an acting coach, they
should be able to help you find out what you need to do to break into
acting. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
answers3: it is very easy you must try to start crying . laugh try to
live like crazy people
answers4: not at all, i've made a few movies already...u just have to
be wiling and daring to do stuff that camera man wants. i've been told
i'll be a big movie star soon!!
answers5: Yes.
answers6: Acting school would not be bad (except to your bank account)
but if you already have solid skills you just need to keep acting.
Many communities have local theatre companies that put on plays. That
would be a good place to start.
answers7: Practice.
answers8: Yes. I think you have to go to acting school and learn some
things. But I think some people naturally can act without learning it
from someone else.

Good online acting classes?

answers1: As an acting coach for more than 30 years I can tell you
that in person classes are always better and an absolute requirement
for a serious actor. Having said that, a well run online program can
be very valuable to any actor. I have students I help with audition
preparation, scene study, and even host webinars on occasion and I
know these programs can be very useful. Online classes should never
be a substitute for face to face learning but I feel they can, and
maybe should be, a part of the actors learning experience. You can
take classes from coaches from Hollywood to London to Australia, or
anywhere else in the world. You can see the various techniques used,
and work online with actors of all experience levels. The cost is a
fraction of what you would pay to have face to face learning.
answers2: Acting classes are only effective in person I will know this
because I tried online acting classes. Everyone has different styles
and plus their aint many online acting classes. Sorry to say this but
dont think youre going to get good over online classes. I do Drama as
a course and can safely say that most techniques are tout in person.
Take lessons from a teacher!
answers3: Online classes are worthless.
answers4: Hello Nena!

There are lots of online acting classes. The best thing about some
online classes is that you can already avail them for free. They can
be seen on YouTube videos. One of the best online classes that I've
seen and read about is The Heller Approach by Brad Heller, an American
acting teacher. You may learn about Brad Heller's technique on this
video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05-xnmyV_C0&noredirect=1

I hope you'll watch Brad Heller and his videos on YouTube. It's very
entertaining and helpful. Good luck!
answers5: The academy of Disney Channel.. Honestly they will take
anyone for there crappy shows.
answers6: best to pay for it in person by a reputable source

Cheap movie theaters in St. Petersburg Area?

answers1: call the theater and ask if they have discount days. There
is a local theater by me that has $6 movies all day tuesday. And all
AMC Theaters and Regal Theaters have $6 movies starting before noon.
answers2: St Petersburg has a thing that gets below the skin and if
you wish to discover what it is then, you ought to have a look with
hotelbye . Nevsky Prospect is St Petersburg's principal avenue and
among the best-known streets in Russia. Cutting through the
traditional centre of the town, it goes from the Admiralty, symbol of
Russian power, to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery and it is likely to
be really lovely to walk along this street later in the day when all
illuminations on. Here, you will see every thing: the most spectacular
structure, the impressive palaces, the world-famous museums and the
sparkling five-star hotels. Among the places must see from St.
Petersburg is State Hermitage Museum. The key architectural attire of
the Hermitage is located in the centre of St Petersburg and consists
in: Winter Palace, when the former state home of the Russian emperors,
houses of the Small, Old (Great) and New Hermitages, the Hermitage
Theatre and the Auxiliary House.

B.F.A. of musicl theatre?

answers1: A BFA in Music Theatre will be a good start........ It will
help you to learn how to act sing and dance (called the triple threat
in the theatre world). Once you have that you can take lessons
outside of school in Opera voice. PLUS....... it will help you to get
roles in acting and music theatre. When you are just starting out in
the arts you need to be willing to take almost ANY role offered. It
becomes an issue of money not genre.

What does it mean when poetry is "raw"?

Why is rhyming important in poetry?

answers1: Rhyming harks back to an age where poetry was spoken /
recited and it made long verses more memorable... much of modern
poetry is read silently and consequently rhyme is not so important.
However, some of us still use it extensively when it suits our
purpose.
answers2: it helps keep a rhythm and a beat, plus it makes it interesting
answers3: well it doesnt rly hav to rhyme
answers4: it make the poem more interesting and catchy. it catches the
readers attention.
answers5: poems don't have to rhyme but i think people like it to
rhyme b/c it adds character and beat and maybe a little fun :)
answers6: Makes it sound better and go good
answers7: Everyone says that it helps your poem sound better, but I
don't think it has to rhyme and sometimes, I don't make my poems
rhyme. But you want them to rhyme, here's a tip.
Write out how you feel in every line, not caring whether they rhyme.
Then the ones that don't rhyme, go back and change them to words that
mean the same thing but rhyme. Thesaurus.com really helps for that
part. Hope I helped!!
answers8: Hi Yvonne. To rhyme or not to rhyme? This is the great
insolvable argument in poetry. Neither free verse nor rhyming poetry
are easy to write well and anyone who would wish to be considered to
be a great poet should be competent in either genre. In the end, it is
the content and the inventive use of language which really count.
Metre and good punctuation are also important as the poem needs to
flow. You are right about comic poetry, it does work better with
rhyming couplets. Good luck Benjamin -V
answers9: i think it just makes the poem sound poetry like, not like a
story, but the most official type of poetry has significant rhymes,
for example not something like:
on a bright and sunny day,
i went outside to play,
with my dog named spot,
and outside it was so hot,
but spot and i
had a lot of fun,
as we played,
in the sun

ha ha, i wrote a poem! =D
answers10: It's mostly a stylistic thing that helps with rhythm and
makes the poem sound more appealing

answers3: Check out the annotated list of poetry-related books at

writing, others about reading poetry, but even those will contain lots
of info that will be helpful for writing.

What makes one think or believe one understands and knows philosophy completely?

answers1: ... it is always important to remember that since the
beginning of time, philosophers often, do not/cannot not, live by
their words and in the end, all we can ever hope to know, is eternally
limited to what we <<think>> we know.
The search FOR answers is a human condition that's endless... Whereas
the ability to live happily WITHOUT then, is reserved exclusively for
the remaining occupants of this planet.
Who seems more content... hummmm...
answers2: Narcasism
answers3: A philosopher stops gaining wisdom at death.
answers4: Yes, it is called: 'Delusions of Grandeur'; because, even
'Philosophy' does not understand, or know, itself.

A great Philosopher once said that the one that is 'most enlightened'
is the one that knows that he knows nothing.
answers5: Nothing. This is not what one would conclude, if one were
trully a philosopher.
answers6: Arrogance, which is thinly disguised ignorance.
answers7: No one worthy of being a philosopher would ever think he
understands it completely, but that is really a worthless
designation--"completely". Philosophy is not something that can be
"complete". You either have an understanding that allows you to talk
competently with other philosophers, and to comprehend things they say
which you didn't know before--or you don't have that understanding.

No philosophy is complete, because it would die if it was that. A
philosophy must be living, and it must work in all situations or it
must change; and where it does not work and must change, it will be
because it contained false premises. If it fails completely, it was
always on tenuous premises.
answers8: You can never know and understand it all, and if you claim
you do, you are so wrong.
answers9: No one knows your thoughts...sharing them is Philosophy
answers10: Their Ego is the main cause.

What was the Shah's philosophies?

answers1: His philosophies were trampled on by the Ayatollah, dear
boy. You know, Iran was a wonderful country to visit, back in the good
old days. Nowadays one would have to take ones life in ones hands to
go there. And to think that Ronald Reagan armed those chappies? It is
an absolute disgrace!

What shaped your Philosophy in Life & does Philosophy shape your Character?

answers1: People responsible for my life's philosophy include my
mother, my first guitar teacher, my college composition professor, and
many great writers, including Henry David Thorearu, Walt Whitman and
George Orwell.

I wouldn't say that my philosophy is "carved in stone," but I've lived
by it for centuries and it has served me well. Here it is:

Always take the road less traveled. Always have a measure of sympathy
and benevolence for your fellow man, because you're not that far from
living in a cardboard box, yourself. And take a big bite out of life
and let the juice run down your chin.

How's that?
answers2: Well my philosophy in life is live and learn and what doesnt
kill you will make you stronger, what shaped my philosophy was i have
learned from everything i have done thus far and will continue to
learn from everything i will do in the future, and what doesnt kill
you will make you stronger otherwise you would be dead already, my
mother died when i was 16 she was my best friend it was all of a
sudden, brain aneorism, and then gone it was christmas morning, i
thought it would kill me im surprised it didnt, but ya know to this
day that is the absolute worst thing that could have happened to me
and it did make me stronger and gave me faith in myself to survive
anything, nothing can compare to that in my eyes. This philosophy
can't be shaken or changed over time they are just facts of life.
answers3: I agree with Sexy Slim and Sunshine. My philosophy on life
has definitely shaped my character but to the opposite effect of what
my life was actually like. My philosophy on life is a combination of
Sexy Slim's and Sunshine's. I've been through a lot in my twenty years
but not as much as most people. My husband always tells me time and
time again, my story may not be as bad as the next person's; I've come
to find that it's true. I'm a life coach who is dealing with a member
of a group I moderate and she's dealt with more than I can ever deal
with in a lifetime so I feel spared in some way not to have gone
through too much. I've shaped my character to be the opposite of what
I've witnessed because the way my mama and my siblings were living
wasn't right and they just weren't setting a proper example at all. I
mean, I basically had to raise myself along with four other siblings
without being old enough to do so which is why I stepped out of their
footsteps and on my own. My philosophy has changed twice in my
lifetime and it'll change at least one more time as I get older
because I learn from everything but all for the better. Everything I
learn from life basically adds and relates to my past philosophies
like the ones I just added but I have a lot of beliefs within me from
experience that will never be shaken.
answers4: For the first question - seems here you mean by "philosophy"
a general view of the world. (Correct me if that's not what you
meant.) A mix of study and experience have shaped my general view of
things and how I inquire. My thoughts need checking against better
minds, but also what they say need checking against my experience.

It would be stupid to say my philosophy is unshaken. I'll stick to it,
but doubts constantly dog me. I've been wrong before, very wrong
before, so it's impossible for me to say with 100% confidence that
I've got the answers (which is what your unshakable-view guy is
saying). That's the only thing I've got going for me: no doubt, no
learning.

For the second question, it seems you mean something different:
something like a discipline of inquiry into basic matters. (Correct me
if - hell, you know the drill.) Does philosophy shape my character?
Good question. Maybe my character shaped the way I do philosophy!
That's probably more like it, for better or worse. Everyone has their
perspective - or bias, or angle, call it what you will.

For big decisions, I can't say I reasoned them out. More like listened
for the answer. Given my limited reasoning ability, it's probably for
the better.

If philosophy has shaped my character (the way I habitually do
things), it's been in the way of being more critical of others and
more trusting in myself - without closing my ears. In fact I think I
hear better for it. And that can only help everyone around me, I
think.
answers5: My philosophy in life has been shaped by my personal
experiences in life and by those of people that I consider to be
admirable, credible, and honest people. I would say that my life
philosophy is pretty muched fixed although over the years it does get
a little polished, but stays overall the same. Yes, I do believe that
a person's philosophy shapes a major part of their character. A
person's philosophy justifies their believes, actions, and overall
personality.
answers6: Fixed but not stringent. It has made me more patient.

You are child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. Whether or not it is clear to you, no
doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace
with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
answers7: It's fixed, but I wouldn't call it dogmatic, since it
requires my constant attention. It is the knowledge that all things
that happen, fortunate or unfortunate, are actually good because of
the wisdom it profers. However, I have the oppurtunity to constantly
meditate or contemplate this meaning any way I deem fit. And if I ever
decide to take a break from it, then I would plummet from my
knowledge. Meaning I would again become lost in the sea of questions,
forever without an oar. And so, by keeping myself fixed upon my own
philosophy of knowledge, I gain transcendence. Does it have a price?
Yes, the price and necessity of constantly holding on, and its
benefit? Clarity and comprehension.
answers8: to a pair quantity, the place we are born might effect us...
yet.. we actually have a decision on who to be and the thank you to
be. I knew a family members with six babies. All born and raised
jointly. some grew to become out properly and a few no longer so
super... interior those babies, their values numerous and what they
chosen to be or do.. numerous... that grew to become their decision
contained in the top. standards... i detect it relies upon on each and
each guy or woman... no count number whilst they're born. the trails
we choose for are continually going to count on each and each human
beings... some will stick to what others do and a few will nonetheless
take a harder path and do what's authentic for them.
answers9: Life experience has shaped mine and its an ongoing process
which is constantly being refined, reviewed and reassessed. No,
philosophy itself does not mold ones character, its how its
implemented.
answers10: METAPHSYICS/BUDDAHISM/EXTENSIALISM
IT'S A SEMI RIGED BELIEF SYSTEM BUT FLEXABLE
PRETTY MUCH BASED ON LOGIC EXCEPT WHEN LOGIC CANT BE APPLIED I USE
WHATS LISTED ABOVE TO GUIDE THE OTHER ASPECTS OF LIFE IN WHICH LOGIC
CANT BE USED (WHICH IS VERY LITTLE)
Is feminism a philosophy?

answers1: A lot of people call it a personality trait
answers2: Well there are a lot of feminists who sometimes call
themselves philosophers: Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray come to mind
from the past 50 years or so. Butler's first appointment was in a
philosophy department.

But feminism isn't necessarily a traditional area of philosophical
study, except where it comes into contact with philosophical topic,
like language (Irigaray/Butler) or identity (Butler).
answers3: it sorta can be

You have heard of Black Liberation Theology? (Rev. Jeremiah Wright)
Women did the same thing in the 1960s and 70s--they said they were
held down by men and they deserved equality, but this would have meant
putting many undeserving women in positions they were not qualified to
fill. They did have to earn those positions, because of many reasons:
too many women had not attempted to rise, making it appear women were
held back
too many women were actually held back, but in proportion to those who
didn't try, the worthy ones were a minority (nevertheless that was
unfair)

But when a woman did rise to the top she was usually excoriated for
not being a feminist! This was one opinion in 1991:
"While feminists claim to be pursuing justice for women, it is
becoming ever more apparent that their actual goal is the obliteration
of justice. More precisely, their aim is to eliminate that which makes
justice possible: objective standards.

Instead of urging employers, for example, to adopt objective standards
of merit in hiring and to apply them consistently to all candidates,
irrespective of the (irrelevant) fact of gender, feminists call for
the very opposite. They demand the lowering or the suspension of
standards, in order to accommodate certain women. They no longer argue
that women who meet objective qualifications ought not to be rejected
solely on account of their sex (an argument which would merit moral,
though not legislative, backing); rather, they declare that females
who fail to qualify should be accepted solely on account of their
sex." http://www.aynrand.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=5216
