That is, if you can get anyone to repair it. Most repairmen won't repair these types of horns because the metal used for keys and springs are to soft. Stick to the common name brands and see if you can find a used one on Ebay or in the newspaper. Often time at the end of a school year parents are selling instruments after their kids have quit band. Also talk to your band director they usually have people telling them about horns all the time. Rubye Bonnin: Since marching band can cause wear and tear on a horn, it is a good idea to have a cheaper brand horn, such as Weimar, for marching rehearsal/performances.However, a Weimar would NOT be a good horn for concert band. If the student is going to use the same ! horn in a concert setting, I would suggest looking into a Yama! ha, Buffet, or Conn, and simply take extra care of the horn during marching band. Make sure to pack an extra towel to completely dry it off after those early morning dew-ey rehearsals, in order to prevent warping during storage. Put your horn away if it starts to rain. Do NOT let any band director ruin your investment by marching it in the rain! Don't let the horn sit out - EVER.
