jamestown, virginia history?

answers1: "Jamestown" was the first permanent English settlement in
America, (the earlier attempts on Roanoke Island had all failed) and
the settlers gave it this name because they had a Charter from King
James VI & I, who had recently come to the English throne. Just to
make sure that he knew how much they appreciated this, the settlement
stood where the James River flows into James Bay. They arrived in 3
ships, the "Susan Constant", "Godspeed" and "Delight", and it was
during the early days of the setttlement the "Pocahontas incident"
with Captain John Smith took place.
answers2: I hope these sites help you. Good luck! <br>
