: Assuming you're young, you may enjoy the Endless Steppe by
Esther Hautzig, about a 10-year-old girl and how she survived after
her family was sent to Siberia during World War II. It's not a kid's
book, but anyone can identify with the main character. There's also Go
Ask Alice, which reads like the diary of a teenage girl who gets mixed
up in the drug culture of the early 1970s.
